How to overcome fear?!

I am reading the 10X Rule by Grant Cardone and he dedicates a few pages to talk about fear. The way he explained how we can overcome fear is brilliant and worth sharing. He says:

Everyone has that initial anxiety when they must take the necessary actions towards their goals. Maybe opening up a business, signing a lease, making cold calls, getting out there in front of people and talk about what they are working on. Suddenly with time the unsettling anxiety becomes fear and that is when it can paralyze people and prevent them from going after what they want. The more time someone spends procrastinating and feeding fear, the farther away they will be from their dreams.

Now, I am not saying that we shouldn’t feel fear, neither is Grant Cardone. He also identifies in the same chapter how acting or not acting based on our emotions is always a bad idea. Rationally we know what needs to be done but our emotions can get in the way and prevent us from following through.

There were many times in my life that I felt scared but as soon I try to just stick to my plan, follow my to-do list and follow through for me. Especially now that my mindset is in the right place, I choose to not care what others say or think and instead I just stick with the commitment that I made to myself.

So if I have to answer the question “how to overcome fear?”, I would suggest to look into two areas, the root of that fear and the outcome. At the root you will find if you scared of what other people will think or if you are scared of failing, these typically go together. On the other end it’s the outcome, if you let fear win and you don’t pursue what you want what will the consequences be?

When we follow our dreams, when we set our direction towards our goals anxiety and fear will come to hunt you, but use that to know you are on the right path and these feelings are just an obstacle you must overcome in order to get to the other side.
